French Word of the Day: à la mode

In French à la mode is pronounced: AH lah muud

In English it is pronounced: ah lah MODE or throw some ice cream on it!

À la mode means "in the fashion". We could appropriately say that tea-bagging friends who are passed out drunk is currently; "humiliation à la mode".

Somebody in charge of writing menus must have thought adding ice cream was in fashion, I guess, and there you have it.

Interesting how words take on new meaning. Now I'm hungry for pie. I like my a la mode on the side. So things get soggy at my pace. Just like French onion soup. (is it french at all?) I like my bread on the side.

How did you tie sweaty man balls to ice cream? Was it the Ben & Jerry ad?

I had no idea about this. You say it's pronounced "muud." Is that like the word mud but with the u drawn out more?

I can't find a way to write how it sounds. I think it's more like "mood"? But if you click the link it takes you to a site that plays a sound clip of someone saying it.

Angie, is Schweady Balls a REAL Ben & Jerry's flavour?! It must be what made that connection for me...damn I'm so suggestible.
